Pandemic and E-learning
Lockdown, social distancing , curfew, pandemic ,epidemic , quarantine , and etc became very ordinary dictions nowadays due to Covid 19 outbreak. Every news mostly start with Covid 19 outbreak. This virus launched its seriousness from December 2019 around and the flame took more insight at the end of February 2020 which led the way for the schools to get closed. Many governments have now curbed free movement .
What is Pandemic ?
A pandemic is a disease outbreak that spreads across countries or continents. It affects more people and takes more lives than an epidemic. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 to be a pandemic when it became clear that the illness was severe and that it was spreading quickly over a wide area.
How does it affect?
Countries are racing to slow the spread of the virus by testing and treating patients, carrying out contact tracing, limiting travel, quarantining citizens, and cancelling large crowds such as sporting events, concerts, and schools.
We are in unexplored territory. Many of our communities are now unnatural. Dozens of the world’s greatest cities are deserted as people stay indoors, either by choice or by government order. Across the world, shops, theatres, restaurants and bars are closing.The International Labour Organization estimates that 195 million jobs could be lost.
Impact of Covid 19 in E-Learning :
E-Learning began decades ago with the introduction of televisions and over-head projectors in classrooms and has advanced to include interactive computer programmes, 3D simulations, video and telephone conferencing and real-time online discussion groups comprised of students from all over the world. The coronavirus pandemic is reshaping education system . People started to explore pandemic pedagogy for imparting skill based education. As Covid 19 grows, parallelly , students, teachers, all the educationist learning ,exploring , venturing in midst of E-learning world.
Conclusion -Faces of E-learning:
After complete online learning implementation , the faces are e-learning is coloured dimensionally. Yes , It has been segregated as synchronous , Asynchronous which have lot of sub divisions in them. In the ‘Information Age’ where the need for ‘knowledge workers’ increases as the need for manual workers decreases, ‘lifelong learning’ is seen as key to the continued success of modern society. ‘e-Learning’ is considered by many as the only viable solution to the problem of delivering the resources required to facilitate lifelong learning.
When the storm of the pandemic passes, schools may be revolutionized by this experience. Or, they may revert to what they know. But this the real moment for the students and teachers for venturing. Students tend show self-responsibility for their own learning. Education may be slow to change, but the post-coronavirus will demand the upliftment of the change in education structure .
